What does Troop 787 have to offer?

Camping, backpacking, hiking, fishing, canoeing, climbing, horseback riding, these are a few of the activities we do on a regular basis in Troop 787. When you think Boy Scouts, think Troop 787.

Why would Troop 787 be a place for you? Troop 787 is a boy-run troop whose focus is to have fun and make friends and memories on our way to Eagle. Troop 787 began in 1987, and we have been meeting at Prince of Peace since 1997. During these last 20 years, we have helped guide 58 young men to earn their Eagle rank.

We currently have 45 Active Scouts and 17 active Adult Scouters. Our troop is the size that allows us to get to know scouts of all ages and learn from each other.

We love to travel in Troop 787! Each summer we take a high adventure trip as a troop. We have been backpacking in Colorado, Canoeing in Arkansas, Horseback riding in Yellowstone and sailing and snorkeling along the Gulf Coast. We have great plans for more exciting adventures in the years to come! Where would you like to go? The choice can be yours, because the scouts in our troop help make these decisions!

How about Summer Camp? We love Summer Camp! We spend a week each summer at Camp Cherokee, Camp Constantine, Camp James Ray or Camp Hale. Summer camp is a great place to get a jump start on Trail to First Class accomplishments!

What other adventures can we expect with Troop 787? How about a trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico? Members of our troop have been to Philmont several times during it’s history; they had the time of their lives and we will be sending a group of scouts from Troop 787 again this year. Our scouts have also been to National Jamborees and World Jamborees. Besides Philmont, we are also planning trips to Sea Base in Florida and Northern Tier High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota.

We are proud of our scouts. Our current scouts play Varsity, JV and Freshman High School football, run cross country, are in the marching band, swim on swim teams and play on select soccer teams. Three of our former Eagle scouts have attended or are attending the US Naval Academy. We also have scouts at Rice, Georgetown, USC, Texas A&M (several), Texas Tech, OU, OSU, UT and at other universities all across our country. Some are serving in the military.
Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, brave, thrifty, clean and reverent, these are the traits you will develop as a result of your adventures with the Boy Scouts of America and Troop 787. We look forward to meeting you!
